The (asau) Supreme Lord (parama-īśaḥ) is the only (ekam) Shelter (āśrayam), (as) this (idam) entire (aśeṣam) world (viśvam) is (His) Supreme Abode (para-dhāma). His (amuṣya) Blessing (sampad) in (this) Supreme Abode (para-dhāmani) is that (sā…eva) which (yā) truly (eva) bestows (dadāti…api) the Significance of Śiva (śaiva-mahā-artham). || 1 ||

Where (yatra) the unusual (alokyam) desire for the Great Rising (mahā-udaya-kāmam) does not (na) shine (dīvyati), there (tatra), the Secret (upaniṣat) did not (na) bloom (yet) (sphuṭitā), and (ca) the nectar of the great worldly pitcher (lokya-mahā-ghaṭa-lehyam) is spreading from the wrong path (amārga-visāri) as an enjoyed suffering (svādita-duḥkham). || 2 ||

Let there be (astu) Salutation (namaḥ) to Śiva (śivāya) in the weak spot of the unbeliever (nāstika-marmaṇi) for whom (yasya) He (saḥ) appears (bhāti) as the existence of an atheist (nāstika-bhāvaḥ), which is (yaḥ) nothing but (tu) the wrong path (vimārgaḥ), (that is merely) ‘waiting for remembrance’ (smṛta-kāṅkṣī) in this world (iha), (since) not (na) even (eva) an atheist (nāstika) exists (asti) without (vinā) Śiva (śivam). || 3 ||

Naiva sa tīvramaheśvarabhaktaḥ svātmani tejasi yo nirapekṣaḥ  |
Tena padena sa yo'nupakārī yadyapi nāstika eva vināśī || 4 ||

Someone (saḥ) who (yaḥ) is not (na…eva) an ardent devotee of the Great Lord (tīvra-mahā-īśvara-bhaktaḥ) is neglecting (nirapekṣaḥ) the Light (tejasi) of one’s own Self (svā-ātmani). Through that (tena) condition (padena), he (saḥ…yaḥ) becomes ungrateful (anupakārī). Although (yadi…api) someone who does not believe in God (nāstikaḥ) is surely (eva) subject to decay (vināśī).  || 4 ||

In this false imitation (praśaṭha-prati-rūpe) full of the obstacle of being addicted to this cunning trick (dhūrta-chala-vyasana-argala-pūrṇe), (he) will not (na) be able (alam…api) to enjoy (bhokṣyati) the Solitary (ekam) Gem (maṇim) (that is) the Shelter (āśrayam) (of the one) who has a Protector (nāthavataḥ), (and which is) born together with Devotion to the Lord (īśvara-bhakti-sajātam).  || 5 ||
