निर्मलं विरजं शुद्धं निष्प्रपञ्चं च सर्वगम्  ।
भावाभावविनिर्मुक्तं वन्दे कौलं कुलार्चितम् ॥१॥

Nirmalaṃ virajaṃ śuddhaṃ niṣprapañcaṃ ca sarvagam  |
Bhāvābhāvavinirmuktaṃ vande kaulaṃ kulārcitam || 1 ||

I venerate (vande) the Spotlessly (nirmalam) Pure (śuddham) and (ca) Passionless (virajam) Kaula (kaulam) (that is) worshipped by Kula (kula-arcitam) (, and) free of expansion of manifoldness (niṣprapañcam) (, though) all-pervading (sarva-gam), (and) free of existence and non-existence (bhāva-abhāva-vinirmuktam). || 1 ||

निःस्वभावमनाथं च वन्दे कौलं सदोदितम्  ।
धर्माधर्मविनिर्मुक्तं बन्धमोक्षविवर्जितम् ॥२॥

Niḥsvabhāvamanāthaṃ ca vande kaulaṃ sadoditam  |
Dharmādharmavinirmuktaṃ bandhamokṣavivarjitam || 2 ||

I venerate (vande) (that) always shining (sadā-uditam) Kaula (kaulam), (Which is) devoid of any peculiarities (niḥsvabhāvam) and (ca) lordless (anātham), free of dharma and adharma (dharma-adharma-vinirmuktam), (as well as) liberation and bondage (bandha-mokṣa-vivarjitam). || 2 ||

अद्वैतं सर्वगं नित्यं वन्दे कौलं परापरम्  ।
यस्यान्तनादिमध्यं न निर्मलं चित्स्वभावकम् ॥३॥

Advaitaṃ sarvagaṃ nityaṃ vande kaulaṃ parāparam  |
Yasyāntanādimadhyaṃ na nirmalaṃ citsvabhāvakam || 3 ||

I venerate (vande) (That) Non-dual (advaitam), Omnipresent (sarvagam) (and) Eternal (nityam) Kaula (kaulam), (Which is) Supreme, (but also) inferior (para-aparam), Who (yasya) has no (na) beginning, middle (and) end (antanādimadhyam), (and Who is) devoid of mala-s (nirmalam), (as It is) the Innate Nature of Consciousness (cit-sva-bhāvakam). || 3 ||

अव्यक्तं च निराधारं वन्दे कौलं सुनिर्मलम्  ।
सावधिनिरवधिमुक्तं सृष्टिसंहारवर्जितम् ॥४॥

Avyaktaṃ ca nirādhāraṃ vande kaulaṃ sunirmalam  |
Sāvadhiniravadhimuktaṃ sṛṣṭisaṃhāravarjitam || 4 ||

I venerate (vande) (That) Perfectly Pure (sunirmalam) Unmanifested (avyaktam) Kaula (kaulam), (Which) has no support (nirādhāram) and (ca) free of the finite and the infinite (sāvadhi-niravadhi-muktam), (and) devoid of manifestation and dissolution (sṛṣṭi-saṃhāra-varjitam). || 4 ||

अनेकं च कलोज्झितं वन्दे कौलं निवर्तकम्  ।
शब्दस्पर्शविनिर्मुक्तं हेयोपादेयवर्जितं ॥५॥

Anekaṃ ca kalojjhitaṃ vande kaulaṃ nivartakam  |
Śabdasparśavinirmuktaṃ heyopādeyavarjitaṃ || 5 ||

I venerate (vande) (That) Kaula (kaulam), (Which) is many (anekam), but (ca) abandones parts (kalā-ujjhitam), (and) produces (everything) (nivartakam). (It is) free of sound and touch (śabda-sparśa-vinirmuktam), (and) devoid of (what) is to be accepted (, but also of that which) is to be rejected (heya-upādeya-varjitam). || 5 ||

अस्तिनास्तिविनिर्मुक्तं महाकौलमनामिकम्  ।
जपपूजाविनिर्मुक्तं ध्यानधारणवर्जितम् ॥६॥

Astināstivinirmuktaṃ mahākaulamanāmikam  |
Japapūjāvinirmuktaṃ dhyānadhāraṇavarjitam || 6 ||

The Nameless (anāmikam) Great Kaula (mahā-kaulam) is free of (that which) exists and (which does not) exist (asti-nāsti-vinirmuktam). (But also) free of japa or repetition and pūjā or worship (japa-pūjā-vinirmuktam), (as well as) meditation and concentration (dhyāna-dhāraṇa-varjitam). || 6 ||

मन्त्रोच्चारविनिर्मुक्तं वन्दे कौलमनामयम्  ।
नवात्मवर्जितं सूक्ष्मं चित्तचेत्यविकासिनम् ॥७॥

Mantroccāravinirmuktaṃ vande kaulamanāmayam  |
Navātmavarjitaṃ sūkṣmaṃ cittacetyavikāsinam || 7 ||

I venerate (vande) Kaula (kaulam), (Which) is free of sickness --i.e. spiritual illusion-- (anāmayam) (and) free of recitation of mantra-s (mantra-uccāra-vinirmuktam). Free of the Navātman --i.e. the nine ‘selves’ from Śiva to prakṛtiḥ-- (nava-ātma-varjitam) (and) the Subtle One (sūkṣmam), (Who) makes the individual mind and its objects manifested (citta-cetya-vikāsinam). || 7 ||

𑆃𑆑𑆫𑇀𑆠𑆳 𑆱𑆁𑆑𑇀𑆫𑆳𑆩𑆼𑆢𑇀𑆪𑆱𑇀𑆠𑆶 𑆃𑆑𑇀𑆫𑆩𑆳𑆤𑇀𑆠𑆼 𑆖 𑆧𑆶𑆣𑇀𑆪𑆠𑆼 𑇆𑇘𑇆

चक्राधारविनिर्मुक्तं वन्दे कौलमगोचरम्  ।
अकर्ता संक्रामेद्यस्तु अक्रमान्ते च बुध्यते ॥८॥

Cakrādhāravinirmuktaṃ vande kaulamagocaram  |
Akartā saṃkrāmedyastu akramānte ca budhyate || 8 ||

I venerate (vande) Kaula (kaulam) beyond the senses (agocaram), free of the location of Wheels (cakra-ādhāra-vinirmuktam). The one who (yaḥ…tu) is not an agent --i.e. inactive-- (akartā) and (ca) meets (with such a Supreme Reality) (saṃkrāmet) becomes awakened (budhyate) at end of the Processless --i.e. when all processes end-- (akramānte). || 8 ||

𑆤 𑆮𑆼𑆣𑇀𑆪𑆁 𑆮𑆼𑆣𑆑𑆁 𑆠𑆠𑇀𑆫 𑆩𑆲𑆳𑆑𑆿𑆬𑆁 𑆠𑆢𑆶𑆖𑇀𑆪𑆠𑆼 𑇆𑇙𑇆

न वेध्यं वेधकं तत्र महाकौलं तदुच्यते ॥९॥

Na vedhyaṃ vedhakaṃ tatra mahākaulaṃ taducyate || 9 ||

There (tatra), there is nothing (na) to be pierced --i.e. no state to be entered-- (vedhyam) (and) there is no piercer --i.e. no one who enters-- (vedhakam), (and) That (tat) is said to be (ucyate) the Great Kaula (mahā-kaulam). || 9 ||

𑆠𑆠𑇀𑆥𑆢𑆼 𑆑𑆶𑆬𑆘𑆁 𑆘𑇀𑆚𑆼𑆪𑆁 𑆢𑇀𑆮𑆴𑆑𑆨𑆼𑆣𑆼𑆤 𑆱𑆁𑆱𑇀𑆡𑆴𑆠𑆩𑇀 𑇆𑇑𑇐𑇆

शक्त्यन्ते यत्परं नादं नादाद्यन्ते कुलेश्वरम्  ।
तत्पदे कुलजं ज्ञेयं द्विकभेधेन संस्थितम् ॥१०॥

Śaktyante yatparaṃ nādaṃ nādādyante kuleśvaram  |
Tatpade kulajaṃ jñeyaṃ dvikabhedhena saṃsthitam || 10 ||

At the end of Śakti (śakti-ante), (there is) the Supreme (param) Nāda or Sound --i.e. I-consciousness-- (nādam), (and) at the end of Sound or I-consciousness (nāda-ādi-ante), (there is) Kuleśvara, the Lord of Kula (kula-īśvaram). (All) that (tat) which (yat) is born from Kula (in this way) (kula-jam) is to be known (jñeyam) as (that which) rests (saṃsthitam) in the State (pade) divided by the two (aspects called Śiva and Śakti) (dvika-bhedhena). || 10 ||

𑆉𑆠𑆶𑆑𑆳𑆬𑆱𑇀𑆪 𑆩𑆣𑇀𑆪𑆼 𑆠𑆶 𑆑𑆶𑆬𑆁 𑆯𑇀𑆫𑆵𑆤𑆳𑆡𑆨𑆽𑆫𑆮𑆩𑇀 𑇆𑇑𑇑𑇆

कला यासि तु सा देवः कालं लक्षपदे सदा  ।
ऋतुकालस्य मध्ये तु कुलं श्रीनाथभैरवम् ॥११॥

Kalā yāsi tu sā devaḥ kālaṃ lakṣapade sadā  |
Ṛtukālasya madhye tu kulaṃ śrīnāthabhairavam || 11 ||

That (sā) Power (kalā) which (yā) You really (tu) are (asi) is the God (devaḥ) (called) Time (kalā), continuously (sadā) (standing) on the plane of (Spiritual) goal (lakṣa-pade). Kula (kulam) is Śrīnāthabhairava (śrī-nātha-bhairavam), (Who) stands in the middle (madhye…tu) of the fruitful period (of Śakti, when manifestation can occur) (ṛtukālasya). || 11 ||

कलाः षोडश तत्रैव लीयन्ते द्वादशे क्रमे  ।
द्वादशैव विलीयन्ते द्विपञ्चमेरुमण्डले ॥१२॥

Kalāḥ ṣoḍaśa tatraiva līyante dvādaśe krame  |
Dvādaśaiva vilīyante dvipañcamerumaṇḍale || 12 ||

There (tatra…eva), the Sixteen (ṣoḍaśa) parts (of vowels of the Self) (kalāḥ) dissolve (līyante) into the twelvefold (dvādaśe) sequence (of the senses) (krame). (This) twelve (dvādaśā) (, then) also (eva) dissolve (vilīyante) into the tenfold Merumaṇḍala --i.e. the sphere of the Essence of one’s Self beyond the body and senses pervading the ten directions-- (dvi-pañca-meru-maṇḍale). || 12 ||

द्विपञ्च षड्भिर्लीयन्ते षड्भिश्चैव चतुष्कले  ।
चतुस्तत्रैव यत्तद्द्वौ कलौ द्वौ यत्र संस्थितौ ॥१३॥

Dvipañca ṣaḍbhirlīyante ṣaḍbhiścaiva catuṣkale  |
Catustatraiva yattaddvau kalau dvau yatra saṃsthitau || 13 ||

Then the ten (dvipañca) dissolve (līyante) with the six (ṣaḍbhiḥ), and (ca) also (eva) with the six (ṣaḍbhiḥ) into (that which) has four marks --i.e. (sacred seats)-- (catuṣ-kale). The four (catur…yat…tat) are there (tatra…eva), where (yatra) the two (dvau) parts (of Śiva and Śakti) (kalau) rest (saṃsthitau). || 13 ||

द्वौ कलौ तत्र लीयेते यत्रैव सा अमा कला  ।
अमा लीयति मात्रार्धे मत्रार्धानामके पदे ॥१४॥

Dvau kalau tatra līyete yatraiva sā amā kalā  |
Amā līyati mātrārdhe matrārdhānāmake pade || 14 ||

There (tatra), where (yatra…eva) the two (dvau) parts (of Śiva and Śakti) (kalau) dissolve (līyete), (rests) the (sā) part (called) ‘New Moon’ (amā-kalā). The New Moon (amā) dissolves (līyati) into the ‘half-measured’ --i.e. the fourth state of Consciousness-- (mātrārdhe), (and) the ‘half-measured’ (matrārdhā) into the Nameless (anāmake) State (pade). || 14 ||

अनामकं कुलं देव यत्र नाथं कुलेश्वरम्  ।
तं कुलं कौलसद्भावं वन्दे श्रीज्ञानसागरम् ॥१५॥

Anāmakaṃ kulaṃ deva yatra nāthaṃ kuleśvaram  |
Taṃ kulaṃ kaulasadbhāvaṃ vande śrījñānasāgaram || 15 ||

Oh God (deva)! The Nameless (anāmakam) is Kula (kulam), where (yatra) the Lord is Kuleśvara (kula-īśvaram). I venerate (vande) That (tam) Kula (kulam), the Venerable Ocean of Wisdom (śrī-jñāna-sāgaram) (, Which is) the Essential Nature of the Kaula (kaula-sat-bhāvam). || 15 ||

कुलं कुण्डलिनी देवी करण्किन्याथ वाहिनी  ।
सा शक्तिः कुलगामिन्या वन्दे तां सर्वमण्गलाम् ॥१६॥

Kulaṃ kuṇḍalinī devī karaṇkinyātha vāhinī  |
Sā śaktiḥ kulagāminyā vande tāṃ sarvamaṇgalām || 16 ||

Kula (kulam) is the Goddess (devī) Kuṇḍalinī (kuṇḍalinī), (Who) certainly (atha) (makes the Transmission) flow (vāhinī) through Karaṇkinī (karaṇkinyā). She (sā) is Śakti (śaktiḥ), the Universal Welfare (sarva-maṇgalām) Whom (tām) I venerate (vande) through union with the Kula (kula-gāminyā). || 16 ||

यत्किञ्चिद्दृश्यते मर्त्ये वस्तुमात्रं कुलोद्भवम्  ।
कुले यत्र विलीयेत तत्कुलं सर्वगं विभुः ॥१७॥

Yatkiñciddṛśyate martye vastumātraṃ kulodbhavam  |
Kule yatra vilīyeta tatkulaṃ sarvagaṃ vibhuḥ || 17 ||

Anything (kiñcit) which (yat) is seen (dṛśyate) in this mortal world (martye) is merely an outline (vastu-mātram) born in the Kula (kula-udbhavam), into which (kule…yatra) Kula (kulam) (that is) the (tat) all-pervading (sarva-gam) Lord (vibhuḥ) dissolves (vilīyeta). || 17 ||

𑆑𑆶𑆬𑆑𑆿𑆬𑆱𑇀𑆪 𑆪𑆾 𑆩𑆣𑇀𑆪𑆼 𑆠𑆠𑇀𑆥𑆢𑆁 𑆥𑆫𑆴𑆑𑆵𑆫𑇀𑆠𑆴𑆠𑆩𑇀 𑇆𑇑𑇘𑇆

कुलशक्तित्रिधामस्थं कौलं चाव्यक्तगोचरम्  ।
कुलकौलस्य यो मध्ये तत्पदं परिकीर्तितम् ॥१८॥

Kulaśaktitridhāmasthaṃ kaulaṃ cāvyaktagocaram  |
Kulakaulasya yo madhye tatpadaṃ parikīrtitam || 18 ||

Kaula (kaulam) rests in the threefold Abode of the Power of the Kula (kula-śakti-tri-dhāma-stham), and (It is in) the sphere of the unmanifest (avyakta-gocaram). (That) which (yaḥ) is in the Center (madhye) of Kula and Kaula --i.e. in Śiva-Śakti and Their Absolute Unity-- (kula-kaulasya), is said to be (parikīrtitam) the Supreme State (tat-padam). || 18 ||

𑆨𑆾𑆓𑆪𑆾𑆓𑆁 𑆮𑆴𑆬𑆾𑆩𑆁 𑆪𑆠𑇀𑆱𑆑𑆬𑆁 𑆑𑆿𑆬𑆮𑆫𑇀𑆘𑆴𑆠𑆩𑇀  𑇅
𑆤𑆴𑆰𑇀𑆥𑆢𑆁 𑆫𑆶𑆢𑇀𑆫𑆯𑆑𑇀𑆠𑆴𑆱𑇀𑆡𑆁 𑆠𑆁 𑆑𑆶𑆬𑆁 𑆑𑆶𑆬𑆯𑆳𑆱𑆤𑆼 𑇆𑇑𑇙𑇆

भोगयोगं विलोमं यत्सकलं कौलवर्जितम्  ।
निष्पदं रुद्रशक्तिस्थं तं कुलं कुलशासने ॥१९॥

Bhogayogaṃ vilomaṃ yatsakalaṃ kaulavarjitam  |
Niṣpadaṃ rudraśaktisthaṃ taṃ kulaṃ kulaśāsane || 19 ||

Anything (sakalam) which (yat) is the opposite (vilomam) of enjoyment and Yoga (bhoga-yogam) is devoid of Kaula --i.e. Kaula contains both-- (sakalam…kaula-varjitam). That (which) (tam) has no location (niṣpadam) (and) rests in the Śakti of Rudra (rudra-śakti-stham) (is said to be) Kula (kulam) in the Kula Doctrine (kula-śāsane). || 19 ||

कुलं शरीरमित्युक्तं कुलध्यानान्तमुच्यते  ।
कुलं कुलाष्टकग्रामं कुलपद्ममधोमुखम् ॥२०॥

Kulaṃ śarīramityuktaṃ kuladhyānāntamucyate  |
Kulaṃ kulāṣṭakagrāmaṃ kulapadmamadhomukham || 20 ||

(Moreover,) Kula (kulam) is said to be (iti uktam) the body (śarīram), (and It is) declared (ucyate) (as residing) at the end of meditation on the Kula (kula-dhyāna-antam). Kula (kulam) is the collection of the Eight (Mothers) of the Kula (kula-aṣṭaka-grāmam). The Lotus of the Kula --i.e. the Yoni-- (kula-padmam) faces downward (to manifestation) (adho-mukham). || 20 ||

कुलं शक्तिर्विजानीयात्कुलं ज्ञानमिहोच्यते  ।
करणं हि कुलं शम्भो कुलमष्टविधं कुले ॥२१॥

Kulaṃ śaktirvijānīyātkulaṃ jñānamihocyate  |
Karaṇaṃ hi kulaṃ śambho kulamaṣṭavidhaṃ kule || 21 ||

One should know (vijānīyāt) that Kula (kulam) is Śakti (śaktiḥ), (and) in this Doctrine (iha), Kula (kulam) is said to be (ucyate) Wisdom (jñānam). Oh Śambhu (śambho)! Kula (kulam) is truly (hi) the Source (karaṇam), (and) Kula (kulam) (appears) eightfold (aṣṭa-vidham) in the Kula (Doctrine) (kule). || 21 ||

𑆤 𑆠𑆱𑇀𑆪 𑆩𑆶𑆑𑇀𑆠𑆴𑆂 𑆱𑆁𑆱𑆳𑆫𑆼 𑆨𑇀𑆫𑆩𑆤𑆼 𑆪𑆾𑆤𑆴𑆱𑆁𑆑𑆶𑆬𑆼 𑇆𑇒𑇓𑇆

कुलं सर्वगतं विद्यात्कुलाचार्यः स उच्यते  ।
भूमिकाज्ञाननिर्मुक्तं कुलकौलं तु यो वदेत् ॥२२॥

न तस्य मुक्तिः संसारे भ्रमने योनिसंकुले ॥२३॥

Kulaṃ sarvagataṃ vidyātkulācāryaḥ sa ucyate  |
Bhūmikājñānanirmuktaṃ kulakaulaṃ tu yo vadet || 22 ||

Na tasya muktiḥ saṃsāre bhramane yonisaṃkule || 23 ||

That one (saḥ) (who) knows (vidyāt) that the Kula (kulam) is omnipresent (sarva-gatam) is said to be (ucyate) a Kulācārya or a teacher of the Kula (kula-ācāryaḥ). (Someone) who (yaḥ) says (vadet) that the Kulakaula (kula-kaulam…tu) is devoid of the knowledge of the levels (of existence) (bhūmikā-jñāna-nirmuktam) is not (na…tasya) Liberated (muktiḥ) from Saṃsāra (saṃsāre), (in which he) wanders (bhramane) (while) being confused by the Yoni (yoni-saṃkule). || 22‑23 ||
