Hymn about the Wheel of the Deities of the Senses resting in one's body
असूरसूरवृन्दवन्दितमभिमतवरवितरणे निरतम् ।
दर्शनशताग्र्यपूज्यं प्राणतनुं गणपतिं वन्दे ॥१॥
Asūrasūravṛndavanditamabhimatavaravitaraṇe niratam |
Darśanaśatāgryapūjyaṃ prāṇatanuṃ gaṇapatiṃ vande || 1 ||
I worship (vande) Gaṇapati (gaṇapatim), the Lord of the Attendants, (Who is) the embodiment of breath --lit. exhalation-- (prāṇa-tanum) devoted (niratam) to the transference of the most excellent wish (abhimata-vara-vitaraṇe), worshipped by the assemblage of gods and demons (asūra-sūra-vṛnda-vanditam), the first among the darśana-s to be worshipped (darśana-śatāgrya-pūjyam). || 1 ||
वरवीरयोगिनीगणसिद्धावलिपूजितांघ्रियुगलम् ।
अपहृतविनयिजनार्तिं वटुकमपानाभिधं वन्दे ॥२॥
Varavīrayoginīgaṇasiddhāvalipūjitāṃghriyugalam |
Apahṛtavinayijanārtiṃ vaṭukamapānābhidhaṃ vande || 2 ||
I adore (vande) Vaṭuka (vaṭukam), (Who is) called inhalation (apāna-abhidham), (and) the pair of feet worshipped by the lineage of the most excellent vīra-s, siddha-s accompanied by yoginī-s (vara-vīra-yoginī-gaṇa-siddha-āvali-pūjita-aṃghri-yugalam), the One who carries away the pain of devoted people (apahṛta-vinayin-jana-ārtim). || 2 ||
आत्मीयविषयभोगैरिन्द्रियदेव्यः सदा हृदम्भोजे ।
अभिपूजयन्ति यं तं चिन्मयमानन्दभैरवं वन्दे ॥३॥
Ātmīyaviṣayabhogairindriyadevyaḥ sadā hṛdambhoje |
Abhipūjayanti yaṃ taṃ cinmayamānandabhairavaṃ vande || 3 ||
I praise (vande) Ānandabhairava (ānanda-bhairavam), (Who is) consisting of Consciousness (cit-mayam), (resting) always (sadā) in the Lotus Heart (hṛd-ambhoje), Him (tam), Whom (yam) the Goddesses of the senses (indriya-devyaḥ) adore (abhipūjayanti) by means of enjyoing sense objects (ātmīya-viṣaya-bhogaiḥ). || 3 ||
यद्धीबलेन विश्वं भक्तानां शिवपथं भाति ।
तमहमवधानरूपं सद्गुरुममलं सदा वन्दे ॥४॥
Yaddhībalena viśvaṃ bhaktānāṃ śivapathaṃ bhāti |
Tamahamavadhānarūpaṃ sadgurumamalaṃ sadā vande || 4 ||
I forever (sadā) venerate (vande) the Spotless (amalam) Sadguru (sat-gurum), (Who is) That (tam) Nature of Attention to the Self (aham-avadhāna-rūpam) by which (yat) the world (viśvam) shines as (bhāti) the Pathway towards Śiva (śiva-patham) for the devoted ones (bhaktānām) by means of the Power of Wisdom (dhī-balena). || 4 ||
उदयावभासचर्वणलीलं विश्वस्य या करोत्यनिशम् ।
आनन्दभैरवीं तां विमर्शरूपां अहं वन्दे ॥५॥
Udayāvabhāsacarvaṇalīlaṃ viśvasya yā karotyaniśam |
Ānandabhairavīṃ tāṃ vimarśarūpāṃ ahaṃ vande || 5 ||
I (aham) praise (vande) Ānandabhairavī (ānanda-bhairavīm), the (tām) Nature of Awareness (vimarśa-rūpām), Who (yā) uninterruptedly (aniśam) creates (karoti) the play of rising, shining and chewing --i.e. manifestation, maintenance and dissolution-- (udaya-avabhāsa-carvaṇa-līlam) of the world (viśvasya). || 5 ||
अर्चयति भैरवं या निश्चयकुसुमैः सुरेशपत्रस्था ।
प्रणमामि बुद्धिरूपां ब्रह्माणीं तामहं सततम् ॥६॥
Arcayati bhairavaṃ yā niścayakusumaiḥ sureśapatrasthā |
Praṇamāmi buddhirūpāṃ brahmāṇīṃ tāmahaṃ satatam || 6 ||
I (aham) forever (satatam) salute (praṇamāmi) Brahmāṇī (brahmāṇīm), the (tām) Nature of Intellect (buddhi-rūpām), Who (yā) worships (arcayati) Bhairava (bhairavam) by means of the flowers of certainty (niścaya-kusumaiḥ) resting in the Lotus Leaf of the Lord of the gods (sureśa-patra-sthā). || 6 ||
कुरुते भैरवपूजामनलदलस्थाभिमानकुसुमैर्या ।
नित्यमहंकृतिरूपां वन्दे तां शाम्भवीमम्बाम् ॥७॥
Kurute bhairavapūjāmanaladalasthābhimānakusumairyā |
Nityamahaṃkṛtirūpāṃ vande tāṃ śāmbhavīmambām || 7 ||
I always (nityam) praise (vande) Mother (ambām) Śāmbhavī (śāmbhavīm), the (tām) Nature of false-I (ahaṃkṛti-rūpām), Who (yā) performs (kurute) the worship of Bhairava (bhairava-pūjām) by means of the flowers of pride resting in the sparks (of Real I) (anala-dala-stha-abhimāna-kusumaiḥ). || 7 ||
विदधाति भैरवार्चां दक्षिणदलगा विकल्पकुसुमैर्या ।
नित्यं मनः स्वरूपां कौमारीं तामहं वन्दे ॥८॥
Vidadhāti bhairavārcāṃ dakṣiṇadalagā vikalpakusumairyā |
Nityaṃ manaḥ svarūpāṃ kaumārīṃ tāmahaṃ vande || 8 ||
I (aham) forever (nityam) venerate (vande) Kaumārī (kaumārīm), the (tām) Essential Nature (svarūpām) of Mind (manas), Who (yā) bestows (vidadhāti) the worshipping of Bhairava (bhairava-ārcām) by means of the flowers of thoughts (vikalpa-kusumaiḥ) pervading the petal of the south (dakṣiṇa-dalagā). || 8 ||
नैरृतदलगा भैरवमर्चयेतेशब्दकुसुमैर्या ।
प्रणमामि श्रुतिरूपां नित्यं तां वैष्णवीं शक्तिम् ॥९॥
Nairṛtadalagā bhairavamarcayeteśabdakusumairyā |
Praṇamāmi śrutirūpāṃ nityaṃ tāṃ vaiṣṇavīṃ śaktim || 9 ||
I always (nityam) salute (praṇamāmi) Vaiṣṇavī (vaiṣṇavīm), the Power (śaktim) that (tām) is the Nature of Hearing (śruti-rūpām), Who (yā) worships (arcayete) Bhairava (bhairavam) by means of the flowers of sound (śabda-kusumaiḥ) pervading the petal of the south-west (nairṛta-dalagā). || 9 ||
पश्चिमदिग्दलसंस्था हृदयहरैः स्पर्शकुसुमैर्या ।
तोषयति भैर्वं तां त्वग्रूपधरां नमामि वाराहीम् ॥१०॥
Paścimadigdalasaṃsthā hṛdayaharaiḥ sparśakusumairyā |
Toṣayati bhairvaṃ tāṃ tvagrūpadharāṃ namāmi vārāhīm || 10 ||
I bow down (namāmi) to Vārāhī (vārāhīm), possessing the nature of skin (tvak-rūpa-dharām…tām), Who (yā) appeases (toṣayati) Bhairava (bhairvam) by means of the flowers of touch (sparśa-kusumaiḥ) (which is) ravishing to the heart (hṛdaya-haraiḥ) remaining in the petal of the west (paścima-digdala-saṃsthā). || 10 ||
वरतररूपविशेषैर्मारुतदिग्दलनिषण्णदेहा या ।
पूजयति भैरवं तामिन्द्राणीं दृक्तनुं वन्दे ॥११॥
Varatararūpaviśeṣairmārutadigdalaniṣaṇṇadehā yā |
Pūjayati bhairavaṃ tāmindrāṇīṃ dṛktanuṃ vande || 11 ||
I extol (vande) Indrāṇī (indrāṇīm), the (tām) Embodiment of Sight (dṛk-tanum), Who (yā) worships (pūjayati) Bhairava (bhairavam) by means of the manifoldness of the most excellent forms (varatara-rūpa-viśeṣaiḥ), having its form seated in the petal of the northwest --lit. belonging to the ’Mārut’-s, the Gods of Wind-- (māruta-digdala-niṣaṇṇa-dehā). || 11 ||
धनपत्तिकिसलयनिलया या नित्यं विविधषड्रसाहारैः ।
पूजयति भैरवं तां जिह्वाभिख्यां नमामि चामुण्डाम् ॥१२॥
Dhanapattikisalayanilayā yā nityaṃ vividhaṣaḍrasāhāraiḥ |
Pūjayati bhairavaṃ tāṃ jihvābhikhyāṃ namāmi cāmuṇḍām || 12 ||
I praise (namāmi) Cāmuṇḍā (cāmuṇḍām), (Who is) said to be the Tongue (tām…jihva-abhikhyām), Which (yā) always (nityam) worships (pūjayati) Bhairava (bhairavam) by means of being delighted by the varieties of the six tastes (vividha-ṣaṣ-rasā-hāraiḥ), inhabiting the sprout of the lord of treasure --i.e. Kubera, the Guardian of the North-- (dhana-patti-kisalaya-nilayā). || 12 ||
ईशदलस्था भैरवमर्चयते परिमलैर्विचित्रैर्या ।
प्रणमामि सर्वदा तां घ्राणाभिख्यां महालक्ष्मीम् ॥१३॥
Īśadalasthā bhairavamarcayate parimalairvicitrairyā |
Praṇamāmi sarvadā tāṃ ghrāṇābhikhyāṃ mahālakṣmīm || 13 ||
I forever bow to (sarvadā…praṇamāmi) Mahālakṣmī (mahā-lakṣmīm), known as Scent (tām…ghrāṇa-abhikhyām), Who (yā) praises (arcayate) Bhairava (bhairavam) by means of various (vicitraiḥ) fragrances (parimalaiḥ), abiding in the petal of Īśa --i.e. Northeast-- (īśa-dala-sthā). || 13 ||
षड्दर्शनेषु पूज्यं षट्त्रिम्शत्तत्त्वसंवलितम् ।
आत्माभिख्यं सततं क्षेत्रपतिं सिद्धिदं वन्दे ॥१४॥
Ṣaḍdarśaneṣu pūjyaṃ ṣaṭtrimśattattvasaṃvalitam |
Ātmābhikhyaṃ satataṃ kṣetrapatiṃ siddhidaṃ vande || 14 ||
I always (satatam) venerate (vande) Kṣetrapati (kṣetrapatim), known as the Self (ātmā-abhikhyam), the bestower of Success (siddhidam), surrounded by the thirtysix tattva-s (ṣaṭ-trimśat-tattva-saṃvalitam), the One to be adored (pūjyam) in the six philosophical systems (ṣaṣ-darśaneṣu). || 14 ||
संस्फुरदनुभवसारं सर्वान्तः सततसन्निहितम् ।
नौमि सदोदितमित्थं निजदेहगदेवताचक्रम् ॥१५॥
Saṃsphuradanubhavasāraṃ sarvāntaḥ satatasannihitam |
Naumi sadoditamitthaṃ nijadehagadevatācakram || 15 ||
This way (ittham) I praise (naumi) the always vibrating (saṃsphurat), always (sadā) rising (uditam), always present, (satata-sannihitam) transcendental --lit. at the end of everything-- (sarvāntaḥ) Wheel of the Deities innately pervading the body (nija-dehaga-devatā-cakram), as It is the Essence of perception (anubhava-sāram). || 15 ||
॥इति श्रीदेहस्थदेवताचक्रस्तोत्रं श्रीमदभिनवगुप्तपादविरचितम्॥
|| iti śrīdehasthadevatācakrastotraṃ śrīmadabhinavaguptapādaviracitam ||
|| This (iti) is the venerable ‘Dehasthadevatācakrastotram’ or the ‘Hymn about the Wheel of the Deities of the Senses resting in one's body’ (śrī-deha-stha-devatā-cakra-stotram) written by most venerable Abhinavagupta (śrīmat-abhinavagupta-pāda-viracitam). ||
